Backstage at Telfar TV

With an entire team of Black and Queer professionals, no one is simply sitting on the sidelines waiting to be used. At about 10 am, steam erupts from the stylist's table as they press every piece to perfection, while a production crew is spewing sparks creating sets there on the spot. Models rushed into the hair and makeup chairs, and leave looking reinvented. And by luck,  a stylist grabbed me and said “if you're taking photos on the set you need to be wearing some clothes”.

It was then that I looked around and realized everyone was wearing either Telfar or Hood By Air/Anonymous Club apparel. No team member went without drip. Anonymous artist Santiago was captured as he was pulled aside to shoot for the lookbook. He stood in an all mirrored room wearing a Black Telfar x Moose Knuckle puffer jacket with the Telfar Logo embroidered onto the chest, matched with luxurious leather HBA platforms. The cast of models ranged from underground DJs, ballroom legends, Tik Tok stars, Club Kids, to skaters.

Telfar Tv has many episodes, but this one, in particular, was a club-style performance, MC’d by Shayne Oliver's alter ego "LEECH," who appeared from the crowd of models wearing a perfectly styled mix of HBA archives and new Telfar drip. Performances from Izzy Spears, Tama Gucci, and Santiago appear amongst a breathtaking in-door snowstorm, and models in big furs and stilt-like shoes strut around them. As I watched Tama Gucci crawl through the sea of beautiful faces, it became apparent how one of a kind this was to see real performers showcasing their new music in never before seen designer clothes.

The latest collaboration is perfect for the brick Brooklyn winter, with fitted insulated pants with fur trimmings and T-Logo embossments, big black puffer jackets, oversized college knit sweaters, to two sizes of a never before seen puffer Telfar bag. For a brand that's considered the “Bushwick Birkin”, they never fail to give such a high-end feel to such a streetwear edge.

Check out the BTS that was captured that night.
