Go Home with cumgirl8

And on that note, we're honored to provide the satiation we've all been waiting for — with an exclusive premiere of the latest cumgirl8 track, Take Me Home Again, streaming on Marine Snow December 1stOn this occasion, we spoke with Veronika, Chase, Avishag and Lida about the process of creating the track, what it really means to them to be "taken home", and tights for goths — and goths for tights.

What is the meaning of this track’s title?

Veronika— "Take me home" is a feeling for taking yourself fucking homeeeee. An internal dialogue. When we first wrote this song I was struggling with myself, and a motto when I couldn’t handle what was going on internally was always like, "Bitch I gotta go home. Order the Uber, say no, DON’T fall in the rabbit hole. Take me home emotionally, physically and mentally."

Take Me Home Again is the song that has become more relevant not only dynamically song-wise, but because now "take me home" is more confident, like "I no longer want to be here, I’m taking myself 'home'". It’s also about being in control of yourself and understanding your needs and wants and not compromising with people or thoughts within yourself or around you.

Chase— The song has gone through so many iterations, with different names too. It started as a song called Chasing; and when we first started the band I would go back and forth between playing a drum machine with my fingers and then jumping down and crashing the drumset. There's a recorded version of that on our first EP, called Take Me Home... The first time we played it without a machine was when we played in the 14th Street Union Sq subway because it would have exploded the speaker. We stuck with that vibe and the song kept evolving until we had a part 2: Take Me Home Again, which is stripped down sonically but even more intense. Like when you're at your very wit's end, down the bone, when only that animal feeling of I HAVE TO GO is left.

What was the experience writing it— what sparked the lyrical inspiration? An event, experience, smell, sensation?

Veronika— Anything *good vibes only*. Chasing was the original title because it was a song that was mathematical but then because the good vibes. The, "Omg I just put the last puzzle piece in!!! Lavender, palo santo, sage good fucking vibes" shit. Damn speaking of events, there have been multiple times we’ve played this song and it was just wrong! Full blown chasing and never catching! *~Dynamics~*

Lida— Totally chasing that feeling. When we were starting this song sometimes it just clicked, so we spent a bit of time figuring out what could make it do that consistently. The drums, bass, and guitar parts all circle around each other until they hit. My lyrics were inspired by falling into things and back out again — whether that’s a feeling with lovers and friends, conversation, or even just taking part in life itself. Sometimes all that makes sense is to “take me home!” When Veronika started singing that, I was like yes!!!!

What kind of music have you been listening to lately?

Chumbawumba. And all horse girl fantasy farm and music from plants and inanimate objects.

What’s next for you? What is this track hinting at for possible future projects?

Tights for goths and goths for tights.

How are you set apart from other artists performing and putting out music now?

Veronika— The relationship between the internet and performance. A fantasy vs reality. A play with me and if you’re lucky play for you- scripts and choreography ~a conversation~. A text me and I’ll text you back if it’s right and respectful. A passion for art and life. Love and life at its greatest.
