The Alexander McQueen Spring/Summer 2025 show, held in Paris, was a powerful blend of sharp tailoring, ethereal fabrics, and folklore. Under the creative direction of Seán McGirr, the collection took inspiration from the banshee—a haunting figure in Irish mythology—and transformed it into a symbol of feminine strength and resilience.

Twisted British suiting formed the backbone of the collection, with wool mohair and gabardine tailored into angular silhouettes. Ethereal silk chiffon and intricate cobweb lace contrasted the sharpness, giving the collection a haunting, ghost-like quality. The color palette was predominantly ivory, grey, and black, with fiery accents of yellow and orange.

The show space, designed by Tom Scutt, echoed the collection’s themes of tension and duality, blending classicism with modernity. Accessories, from sculptural boots to jewelry inspired by the banshee’s lore, reinforced the mythical narrative.

Welcome Back A--Company

After a year of hiatus due to a global pandemic, NYFW returns with powerful presentations mediating on consumers' ever-changing relationships with their clothes. Although the world is still grappling with the uncertainty of unprecedented times, designers have remained focused on providing an outlook for the future. Designer Sara Lopez's SS22 collection for A--Company champions a bright future where sustainability and thoughtfulness collide.

Deconstruction and elevation sit front and center of A--Company's SS22 collection, where the beloved t-shirt adorns a new outlook accompanied by wearable pieces designed for anyone and any occasion. Mastering the use of clothing as a communication tool, A--Company arrives at a place where the human condition is celebrated and the complexities of life are examined. Political movements, sustainability, gender, and inequality inform the collection centering pieces that shed complications while reasserting comfort and ease.

Sara Lopez presents pieces in core colors of brick, umber, and ivory, where tailoring takes another level. Through experimentation and refined style, bold interpretations speak to a narrative of hope and longevity. Movement and form elucidate through draping fabric and deconstructed silhouettes. Presented alongside a score by composer, Some Nerve (Kaya Wilkins), the show affirms its values of evading excess and prioritizing community. In addition to powerful looks, hand-painted handbags by artist Grace Metzler walk the show.

Continuing the sentiment of community and support, Lopez has created a t-shirt embellished with a poem that speaks to the brand's ethos. All proceeds from the t-shirt will be divided among organizations focusing on community care— Project Eats, Last Exit Kabul, and Lilith Fund.

Concept Korea Digital Fashion Show

Due to the pandemic, Covid has altered the nature of most things, but Concept Korea is not letting it stop them. Instead of a conventional fashion show to commemorate the release of their newest collection, Concept Korea has declared a three-part series that uncovers the active stories and faces of contemporary Korean design in the fashion industry.

Through a digital lens, Concept Korea is able to showcase the most talented designers and hands in Korea working endlessly in their craft. From K-Pop stars and K-drama actors, they all share narratives surrounding their favorite brands featured in the film. In this story, EENK, NOHANT, and UL:KIN are the stars of their own fashion utopia where they mix post-modern, abstracts, and revolutionary designs and garments for the Spring 2022 fashion season.

The featured brands all make a name for themselves throughout the film in an inventive way.

EENK who specializes in imaginative layering and fabrics puts the U in Utopia by imagining her dream world through colors, silhouettes, and fabrics.

NOHANT, which sounds close to the word Nonchalant takes on that message by designing laid-back and casual garments, especially with their infamous "message t-shirt." With an emphasis on quality, the unisex label takes a savvy approach to everyday wear.

UL:KIN creates modernized and relevant designs with sustainability in mind. The label is a high-end relaxed line that addresses concepts surrounding the idea that sustainability is sexy. The designer behind the line translates his sensibility towards art and culture into a powerhouse for change.

After being exhibited at New York Fashion Week, the collection of all three designers will be showcased on B2B platform JOOR, where they will be marketed and promoted globally. Starting the 10th of September at 00:00 an NYT the films of the collection will be available on the Korea Creative Content Agency’s Youtube channel.

Saint Sintra's First Rodeo

Along with many designers debuting their first show at NYFW — Saint Sintra stands out in the crowd. The New York-based brand that riots its garments in an array of colors and textures took their first runway to the Stranger in Midtown, New York to display a collection in an equally as loud show location. The Stranger was not only filled with playful-like characters like Kim Petra and the Clermont twins, but the space filled with circus-like props dressed up like a life-sized doll-house and played upon vibrant green asphalt grass as its runway.

The S22 presentation named “The Color of Things” after the kids book, showcased a hysteric and chaotic, technicolored hyper-utopia that looked at the "post-analog world through a technicolor kaleidoscope of youth and glamour." And the pieces shown didn't shy away from that, as each piece graced upon the diverse selection of models, the clothes shined, feathered, and beamed in the spotlight.

The Color of Things relied heavily on its use of color with added accessories of jewels, feathers, and even heavy beading. Sintra's show plays upon a punk burlesque-inspired collection with heavy themes of blush-colored corsets, fish-nets piled upon multi-colored feathers, and full-body beaded dresses with nothing underneath.

As this is the designer's first show, Sintra's infectious spirit can be recognized in the garments she creates, securing her a spot on everyone's must-see list for the next fashion season.
