Balenciaga is Back in the Couture Game

After over 5 decades of a hiatus from the couture universe, Balenciaga and creative director Demna Gvasalia revived haute couture with a collection that dazzled audiences. The AW21 Collection was tastefully presented in Paris, on July 7th, with a celebratory dinner following the show at the Bourse de Commerce — right in the heart of the prominent fashion capital. The pieces showed Gvasalia’s ability to display revitalized and elegant couture styles, while still respectfully nodding to the house’s classic silhouettes and forms.

The most illuminating part of the presentation was surely the path it is paving for Balenciaga as a brand, showing the house’s ability to tackle many facets of the fashion spectrum, from streetwear to custom, one-of-a-kind couture. But the show’s attendees created a buzz of their own.

Front row guests included Anna Wintour, Kanye West, Bella Hadid, Salma Hayek Pinault, James Harden, Lil Baby, and more — most of which were clad in the house’s garments themselves.

Vans x Sterling Ruby Return with New Collection

Vans and artist Sterling Ruby are teaming up again for a bold second collection through OTW by Vans, launching on December 5, 2024. The seven-piece lineup includes footwear and apparel inspired by Ruby’s art, featuring deep green and gold tones, rotting jack-o-lantern graphics, and monster claw motifs.

The collection includes four shoe designs, such as the Old Skool 36 and Sk8-Hi 38, crafted with premium materials like goatskin and sustainable cotton. It also introduces apparel with striking graphics and a bold slogan: “ABSOLUTE CONTEMPT FOR TOTAL SERENITY.”
