Chloe and Chenelle are the “It” Sisters of Style

Take a look into the behind-the-scenes workings of fashion’s latest and greatest commanders in chic by reading office’s interview with Chloe and Chenelle below.

When did each of you get involved in the fashion and styling world? Were you both passionate about fashion from a young age?

Chenelle — Chloe has always been fashion-obsessed — always reading fashion magazines or watching some sort of fashion-related TV show. She would spend more time picking out her outfit for school the next day than on homework or studying.

Chloe — Chenelle was more of the sporty academic one.

C & C — Our parents were somewhat of an influence for us style-wise — our earliest memories are of our mom taking us thrifting and our dad also had a skate brand in the 90s, so we were constantly surrounded by clothing.

How does it feel to be able to collaborate with your sister every day?

C & C — We can’t imagine doing this job with anyone else, or by ourselves, as we can be our most authentic selves and brutally honest when necessary. We definitely have our fair share of disagreements but if it gets heated we're over it in .5 seconds, which is truly a sister thing.

You both grew up in Los Angeles. In what ways did that upbringing influence your individual styles?

C & C — Our parents split up at a young age and our mom moved to Missouri, so we spent time in both places. Those extreme opposite surroundings really did influence our style in different ways. We knew what was trendy because, at the time, LA was more ahead of the trends, and then if we were in Missouri for a long period of time we had to mimic those styles by making our own clothes or thrifting because there was absolutely no decent shopping in Missouri.

Would you say you both have very different tastes and styles or do you tend today to go for the same items when shopping?

C & C — For our clients, our taste is pretty aligned for the most part. However, we have very very different personal styles.

Who are your most iconic fashion inspirations?

C & C — Our little sister, she really wears whatever she wants with confidence.

What has been your favorite magazine cover or editorial that you have styled to date?

C & C — Definitely our Playboy cover shoot with Nadia Lee Cohen. The cover featured five generations of playmates, to represent age-equality. This was more of an inspirational experience of getting to know each model and hearing their stories of struggle as a female in a male-dominated environment and how they successfully navigated through it.

The Y2K-inspired looks that you create are always being praised — I feel like every outfit you craft is better than the last, because they perfectly encapsulate that modern Gen Z style. How does it feel to know that your work has influenced fashion for young people everywhere?

C & C — Honestly, even reading this question feels surreal. We try to approach everything we do and everyone that we work with as being totally present and in the moment. It feels good to be appreciated and if what we are doing inspires others — that’s amazing. We are constantly being inspired, too.

What are some of your favorite brands and designers right now?

C & C — We are always looking for new and emerging designers and are super inspired by the brands that made it through, or even emerged, during the past two years — which were unbelievably difficult, in an already difficult environment. But some highlight brands for us right now — Chet Lo, heaven, Miss Sohee, and  Luis de Javier.

Where do you see your careers moving in the future? What’s next for Chloe and Chenelle?

C & C — SOMETHING MAJOR!
