Chthonic Penumbra: Han Kjøbenhavn AW23

Danish fashion house Han Kjøbenhavn unveiled their autumn/winter 2023 collection Chthonic Penumbra at Milan Fashion Week. The unique collection is filled with their signature creations such as organic curves, structural shapes and brutal design elements.

A raw, yet elegant aspect is seen throughout with handcraft and welted boots, chrome sculptures incorporated into various pieces, distressed draping, faux fur, vegan leather and pearls to present the brand's multitude of expressions.

Jannik Wikkelsø, founder and creative director of Han Kjøbenhavn, wanted to make 'hell a beautiful place' through blood-red pieces, mesh and rubber fabrications, and tight-fitted bodysuits embellished with a Diablo IV logo in collaboration with the Blizzard Entertainment game.

The dystopian-like atmosphere of the show gave viewers both a visual and emotional experience. The collaboration between Han Kjøbenhavn and Diablo IV was revealed through brutal audio, and dense and dramatic ambience.

“Working with Blizzard Entertainment is one of the most natural collaborations that I have ever done," Wikkelsø says. "We share visions, aesthetics, and creative views, which has made it such a joy to work on this. The visual expression in the game and how I work have a lot of similarities and that has given me the opportunity to really combine the two worlds and the emotions attached."
