First Looks at Givenchy FW22

With time, Matthew Willams produces a better collection each show. Due to his devotion to mix the sensibility of the haute couture atelier to casual yet vivid archetypes of clothing, it seems like he won't stop being a stand-out designer any time soon. For the Givenchy FW22 collection that debuted in Paris, the shapes and silhouettes are deemed equally as ornamental as it is practical. For the designer, a youthful vision is pushed once again with the mixing of utility gear and luxury, a style that has been making a wave in the fashion world since the pandemic.

As models walked down the runway, their achromatic pieces were adorned with a metal and varsity typeface graphic that bears inspiration from the original Givenchy logo. Heavily layered, reconstructed pieces with a feminine twist take pride of place, in a firm silhouette, displaying conversational pieces surrounding a relaxed twist on ceremonial pieces. With a composition on casual streetwear with punk formatting, Givenchy classicism and radicalism are merged in a play of volumes and textures in a new, intricate way.

Diadora's appointment of Danish designer Nikolaj Hansson as Creative Director for its Legacy line signals a fresh chapter for the brand. Known for his Copenhagen-based label Palmes, Hansson’s connection to Diadora began in childhood, admiring the brand’s iconic boots on Premier League defenders. Now, his deep respect for Diadora’s heritage and his vision for merging craftsmanship with progressive design will shape the brand’s premium Legacy line.

His first collection launching in Fall/Winter 2025, will blend his design ethos with Diadora’s storied history, tapping into both the brand’s past and a modern sensibility. Diadora’s CEO, Claudio Bora, shares Nikolaj Hansson's vision of sport as an emotional, daily experience, aiming to create apparel that resonates with the spirit of sport itself. As Hansson says, "the falling in love was mutual," and together, they aim to reignite that spark in a new generation of fans.
