Hold My Spot
Un-decoded runic symbols form an alphabet that speaks in the language of color and structure: we are afforded a glimpse but nothing more. One hue and pattern leads to another; not a single combination is repeated in the 100 artifacts of various faraway cartoon species displayed at the Fortnight Institute.
The vertical placeholders used to pause time in the way only a book can be paused — for a few minutes or in perpetuity — create a prismatic rhythm, a poetic riddle whose meter is intuited through the rich experience of our most valuable organ: the eyes. What books were the toons reading? Comic books? Humor poetry? office magazine? Some things are best left to the imagination.
