What is your ideal office?
M – Honestly anywhere as long as I’m with Esther and Jenny. G – Partitions and fluorescent lighting at least forty floors up in the Financial District. A view.
C – Friends, an industrial knitting machine, waterfall walls, lots of sunlight, heated marble floors.
Is New York your city?
M – It’s my city and I want it now!
G – My city, but not my home.
C – Yeah, I was born in New York City.
How would you like to be remembered?
M – Kinda like Smitty Werbenjagermanjensen from SpongeBob where someone finds my hat and it’s like “HE WAS #1”
G – Some cute memorial award.
C – I don’t really care how I would like to be remembered.
What is your most treasured belonging?
M – My jewels.
G – A small, ratty linen pillow with my name embroidered on it.
C – A quartz stone bracelet with gold streaks running through it that my mom made me.
What is a career highlight that sticks out to you?
M – When we got our first order from Opening Ceremony, Jenny and I read the spreadsheet wrong and thought they ordered one of every single piece and we screamed for like 10 minutes before we realized that they highlighted specific pieces lol.
G – Our second show. We’d driven a semi-broken-down RV filled with models into a parking garage in Chinatown, who had no idea we were arriving. The clothes were still wet, we hadn’t slept and it was freezing, but it still feels like the most personal and emotional show we’ve had.
C – Esther came back from Australia two weeks before the FW15 show and we were in such a crazy work flow up until two hours before the show. I think we kind of thrive off of that intensity.
