If Ferris Bueller took one too many days off, became a junkie, and rolled through Fashion Avenue with ill-begotten coin to serve fire in his senior pictures, he might just get voted ‘Most Likely to go the Barbershop with office’ in his senior yearbook.

With this in mind, here are our Just Dos and Just Don’ts of the NYC barbershop experience:

Just Do: bring your style squad, especially that friend of yours with that freaky jewelry collection.

Just Do: keep an open mind, so open. Too open?

Just Do: bring your wig collection to see if you can hustle the barber for a few free weave trims.

Just Don’t: balk when the barber reaches for the bucket of old school gel. Embrace the gel.

Just Don’t: hesitate to use that freaky jewelry collection for your senior pictures later.

Just Don’t: question that punk, street, and dork go together. They can, they will, and they do.
