Jelly for Marshall Columbia x Melissa

"I remembered the clear Melissa jelly shoes my sister Bea used to wear as a kid," New York-based designer Marshall Columbia recalls while discussing his latest collaboration with the iconic footwear brand. "They fit so seamlessly into the little world I’m creating with my own brand," he adds, "which is basically a glamorized, cartoon version of my childhood memories."

While that sense of late '90s, summery nostalgia was a key inspiration, Columbia’s reinterpretation of Melissa’s jelly shoe brings a hotter, more playful silhouette that can be dressed up or down. Reflecting on the shoe’s 2-in-1 design, Columbia shares, "The fact that this boot can also be transformed into a completely different shoe is the most exciting part, making it one of the most versatile shoes I’ve ever seen."

But for Columbia, the project was more than just a creative outlet. "Creating this campaign was one of the most special moments in my career," he reflects. "It was amazing to look around the room on the day of the shoot and see only friends and chosen family — people who’ve been incredible creative collaborators over the years. Even one of my closest friends, Bapari, produced original tracks for the campaign. These are the moments that make having a brand worth it."

New York- and Tokyo-based alternative luxury brand vowels debuted its first full Autumn/Winter 2024 collection yesterday at the vowels Showroom at 76 Bowery. Under the direction of Creative Director Yuki Yagi and inspired by the Japanese philosophy of "Shuhari," the collection reinterprets classic streetwear with high-quality materials and innovative techniques.

Standout pieces include outerwear such as natural duck down jackets, Primaloft-insulated cashmere coats, and a bonded wool shell coat inspired by Tokyo’s salarymen. Knitwear, Japanese cotton tees, and relaxed wool-blend cargos round out the offering, featuring a color palette inspired by Japan’s natural and urban landscapes.

Accessories like hats, beanies, and scarves use the same luxury technical materials, complementing the outerwear. Yagi describes the design process as iterative, comparing it to "playing Tetris" to perfect every detail.

KidSuper Blends Fashion and Comedy at the Apollo

In 2023, Colm Dillane of KidSuper made waves at Paris Fashion Week, combining his love for fashion and comedy with a one-hour show. Last night, Dillane brought that same creative energy back to New York’s iconic Apollo Theater for a community-driven celebration.

Hosted by Marlon Wayans, the event featured performances from DC Young Fly, Earthquake, Sam Jay, and a surprise appearance by Jim Jones. Alongside the entertainment, Dillane showcased his latest collection, filled with vibrant prints, bold colors, and his signature animated tailoring. The event also teased collaborations with Lovesac and Puma.

Dillane’s playful approach to fashion was clear throughout the night, as he continued to challenge industry norms and celebrate the creativity that makes each of us unique. KidSuper is redefining the future of fashion — one where art, humor, and dreams have no boundaries.
