What is your ideal office?
Definitely a room with a view...but maybe better, no room at all. I do my best thinking running through the wilderness.
What animated character do you relate to most?
I guess Calvin is pretty relatable. Wile E. Coyote sometimes.
What is your favorite place in New York to be alone?
In the Catskill Mountains.
In three words, how would your mother describe you?
I asked her, but I am embarrassed to share her three words. I’ll tell you that between the ages of 4-30 I was a total terror. The last ten years I’ve been an angel. Luckily she seems to have forgotten the ‘80s, ‘90s and 2000s.
Do you have any rituals?
A LOT—I keep trying to let some go.
What’s the worst thing you’ve ever read about yourself?
Too much bad press, it’s all just a blur...trying to let some of that go too.
What technology excites you the most?
I love seeing cutting-edge, meticulously rendered 3D animation.
If you were commissioning your own presidential portrait, who would you choose as the artist?
Definitely either Bruce Nauman or Borna Sammak, or if I could pick a dead artist I’d go with Greer Lankton.
What was the first record you ever bought?
Not sure, but some early memories: Da Lench Mob, Van Full of Pakistans, Redman, Grand Puba.
Do you believe in ghosts?
Yes.
What would you do if you lost use of your hands?
I can’t imagine.
Who was your celebrity crush as a teenager?
I’m surprised how hard it is to recall...maybe Stephanie Seymour, Demi Moore, Penelope Cruz.
If you were a professional athlete, what would be your sport of choice?
Basketball.
What song should they play at your funeral?
It’s a little corny but probably some Townes Van Zandt song, “If I Needed You” or “High, Low and In Between.”
