JENNAX's United Nations of Latex
The collection spans five nations: Germany, to honor Jenna's upbringing; U.S. to honor her current home and host of this year's game; Mexico, to honor their heavy cultural influence in both Los Angeles (Jenna's home base) and soccer; Brazil and Argentina as the most iconic soccer nations. Growing up in Germany, soccer was an ever-present cultural force yet one that felt exclusively male.
That's why JENNAX entered the field of soccer jerseys, disrupting the existing stereotypes we unconsciously have build around sportswear. LATEX NATIONS puts the culture, identity, symbolism, and empowerment behind the sport through a feminine lens. With the bold country-specific colors and form fit, the second skin makes soccer sexy. JENNAX levels the playing field for the female.
The collection is a paradox in itself and, more than stylish, it presents a radical approach to how we view function and fashion. "It’s exploring the tension between performance and fetish, as well as masculinity and femininity. A football jersey normally represents function and athleticism, while latex carries very different associations. Bringing those worlds together creates something disruptive and new," Jenna shares. Fashion and sports, the most stereotypical feminine and masculine embodiments, combine to remind us we live in a world where anyone can be anything.
