V is for Victory, and Vuitton

Throughout the past several days, a fleet of elegant and classic collector vehicles, sourced from various collectors who are rooting for their metal steeds, has been winding through Venice and the picturesque Dolomite mountains. The Dolomites is a pale mountain range extending from the Limestone Alps, full of staggering cliffsides and proud peaks. Stopping along the way at cultural institutions and various villas like the Villa Pisani to reinvigorate what Louis Vuitton calls the “Art of Travel,” the tour seeks to showcase Italy’s history of art, craftsmanship, and savoir-fair. As the legion of vintage vehicles that's been streaming through the country comes to a rest, and dusky clouds roll in over the Italian Alps, it's hard not to feel a sense of romance for the thrill of fast cars whipping through winding mountain roads.

The Trophy Trunk, a continuation of Louis Vuitton’s history of crafting trunks that has become inseparable from their identity, features a V monogram and brass finishings to encase this years’ trophy, a commission from designer Sabine Marcelis produced by the Italian glass house Maison Venini. Presented by Giulia Maenza in a totemic pleated white gown, it further displays the connections between artisanship, travel, and curiosity to discover history embedded in the country and its land.
