This past year has been defined by natural disasters. From hurricanes and floods to windstorms and drought, these occurrences have undeniably shifted the conversation in every facet of our culture, changing the trajectory of our futures. Perhaps the most shocking (and publicized) disaster of the year has been the Australian bushfires, which have burned 12.35 million acres of land across the country.

For PHIPPS A/W ‘20 collection, the brand actively acknowledges the necessary “conservation and protection of forests and woodlands from all manner of destructive forces.” In response, PHIPPS continues and enhances its pledge for sustainable and transparent production processes in fashion through its newest initiative titled “PHIPPS GOLD LABEL”. Here, a collection of PHIPPS-customised vintage and deadstock items grace its newest collection through repurposed denim jeans, jean jackets, and checked flannel shirts.

Taking the collection even further down the fire-safety route, PHIPPS incorporates educational prints and patches of US wildfire cartoon, Smokey Bear. Smokey appears alongside archive print illustrations, intarsia knitwear and even inspires the first-ever PHIPPS Instagram filter. “Remember, only you can prevent wildfires!” - Smokey Bear.

Vans x Sterling Ruby Return with New Collection

Vans and artist Sterling Ruby are teaming up again for a bold second collection through OTW by Vans, launching on December 5, 2024. The seven-piece lineup includes footwear and apparel inspired by Ruby’s art, featuring deep green and gold tones, rotting jack-o-lantern graphics, and monster claw motifs.

The collection includes four shoe designs, such as the Old Skool 36 and Sk8-Hi 38, crafted with premium materials like goatskin and sustainable cotton. It also introduces apparel with striking graphics and a bold slogan: “ABSOLUTE CONTEMPT FOR TOTAL SERENITY.”
