Radiation
Shiny puffer jackets, seamed leather coats, ponchos made of bedcovers, sculpted parkas, paneled dresses with trails of psychedelic pastel-hued scarves, tufts of faux fur and fluorescent yellow uniforms were among the highlights of the collection, all of which worked seamlessly together to fortify that remnants-of-humanity illusion. The underlying message that the designer wanted to communicate, however, was that of community—the forging of a peculiar new tribe of peoples and customs in the wake of cultural collapse. As models marched down the runway with the feline prowess of a warrior returning home post-victory, one thing became imminently clear: there is a Xena in all of us—and she never looked this good.
