Resort 22 Lands in the Dominican Republic
Coming off of Latinx Heritage Month, a celebration of Latinx culture across intersections, this project highlights Martinez’s relationship with her culture and influences informing her craft. Oftentimes conversations surrounding Latinx culture minimize a vast amount of identities further marginalizing communities. Unapologetically proud of her roots, Martinez continues to occupy spaces abroad, taking pieces of the Island with her. In an exclusive interview, the talented model answers questions about her culture, state of mind, and sustainability.

What connections do you have with the Dominican Republic?
Apart from the fact that it is my country of origin, it should be noted that it is one of the warmest islands in the Caribbean.
How would you describe your state of mind in the Caribbean?
It's the best way to feel, nothing better than being at home.
Fashion is beginning to adopt sustainable practices and center ethical productions, can you speak to your personal relationship with sustainability?
I really love to buy pieces that are unique rather than crazy shopping for something new every day, I think that is what we need to avoid because most people have way too many clothes that they don’t use and then have to throw away. Shopping at second-hand stores or thrifting is something I love too.
