Sean Wotherspoon is giving away his crazy Adidas track-jacket collection

Check out the interview below to hear Sean talk all things his Adidas collab and Coachella.

You’ve had a private collection of these jackets for a minute, what feelings did you start to develop the more you held onto them?

My collection is actually a little different because it’s constantly rotating. I realized that I want so much, it’s impossible to have it all. So really, my Adidas jacket collection has went in phases. It’s like every 5 years I collect a new style and get rid of my old ones to support the habit. It feels like Adidas jackets have matured with my own personal taste as well and that’s cool to see.

The jackets feel sports-inspired, maybe reminiscent of racing jackets or Olympic jackets, before thinking of the designs can you speak on the silhouette?

I definitely see the racing vibes in the jacket silhouette but to me it speaks more to the sports leisure side. I see someone in the 1970s rolling up to a tennis match in the 2 piece Adi' tracksuits, or 10 years later in the 80s with Run DMC.

Why a Jacket? As we know you’re a connoisseur in sneakers specifically and have a love for apparel, but why this jacket?

Why a jacket? It’s really a mix of jackets and hoodies I put together but they seemed appropriate for Coachella with the high winds, cold temps at night, etc. On another note, my inspiration has been very apparel heavy lately as opposed to footwear, taking bits from each and applying to each other.

What intentions were you putting into the design of this jacket when you were making them? Are there any designs or ideas that started out completely different than what we see now? How did that snowball effect happen?

I had nothing in mind with this process except using the opportunity to upcycle as much old Adidas as possible, using the screen print to elevate them and become worthy of your closet at home!

The sneakers feel a bit more playful and child-like in comparison, can you speak on the beading on the laces and where that inspiration came from?

You nailed it, the sneakers are super early-teens-inspired. The beads represent the bracelets we all made at school or summer camps. I like that they can live outside the sneaker too, you can put on a backpack or make a bracelet with the laces.

How do you plan on enjoying your Coachella this year?

I plan to enjoy my Coachella soaking up the sun! And eating a shit ton of food!
