Shoe Palace Transforms LA Locations for the NBA
Put on by Adidas, the CITY OF ANGELS multi-day festival, was headlined by such talents as Peso Pluma, Busta Rhymes, OT Genasis, Xzibit, Normani ft. Ciara, Shoreline Mafia, Tokischa, and others. Moreover, the event saw a special appearance from esteemed designer, Willy Chavarria. The designer’s latest capsule features Compton Cowboys, and is exclusive to the DTLA store, solidifying its identity as a natural extension of the city.
Jordan’s projects included GENERATIONAL GREATNESS and AUTHENTICALLY HER which premiered at the Shoe Palace locations in Little Tokyo and Inglewood. Based on the concept of the quintessential LA woman, the takeover was created with narrative attention to a strong-willed woman’s determined navigation through male-dominated spaces and brought to life by a driveby from the Car Girls of LA, an organization founded by Rylee Firestone. The Women In Sports Panel featured sports and fashion creator, Janette Ok.
Puma took over the Shoe Palace location Hollywood through a themed collaboration with the “Fast & Furious” franchise from Universal Pictures. The event saw everything from a Hardly Home Launch Party, a “sidewalk-to-ceiling race experience,” a perfomance from Cuco, and a car club meetup that incorporated local groups true to the LA spirit like The Motoring Club, Fast Lane Drive, and Midnight Sokudo.
New Balance created a Pop-Up in Melrose where guests could come to learn and play basketball alongside LA Sparks player, Cameron Brinks. Other guests included Chris Rocket and Coach LaTi.
Nike tied in the concept of luxury when creating their event with artist, Victor Solomon. The Shoe Palace Melrose location was artfully transformed by Solomon into a black and gold accented space adorned with NBA trophies. Not only was the space turned into a work of art, but it was turned into a space where art could be created. They hosted a studio workshop for guests to create mini backboards. Melrose also saw a rotation of DJ’s who bring in the LA spirit, alongside a photobooth and a gallery soiree. The Compton location presented PROCEED WITH CAUTION, featuring Christine Williamson and Lisa Leslie in conversation.
