Wales Bonner A/W '20

This collection, inspired by her biracial heritage, is a love letter to the Afro-Caribbean community within the UK. John Goto’s photos of second generation youths at Lewisham Youth Centre in the 1970s serve as a starting point. Grace marries very English silhouettes, and Savile Row tailoring with crimson, ochre, and emerald, and gold brass buttons. Rastafarian beanies are interpreted with Scottish wool; and British-Guyanese Frank Bowling’s swans paintings reborn as silk shirts.
It’s no surprise that women are seduced by her clothing, too. See: Meghan Markle’s post birth announcement. As the brand lays the foundation for its legacy, Grace Wales Bonner will soon become a household name.
