YOZMIT the Dogstar

Contrary to the contemporary pop star, who uses fame to sell products endorsed by corporations, The DogStar uses self-awareness and art practice as tools for liberation—from inequality, bigotry, and marginalization around gender and identity. I hope to inspire the queer community to seek liberation together.'

The self-given name Yozmit means “myth about one’s self.” Through ritualistic performance art, I combine theater, dance, pop culture, fashion, gender identity, mythology, and shamanism onto a single canvas. I use the content and form of the pop star to create DogStar—an icon of trans-formation, evolution, and new possibility. Inspired by the myth of Sirius, the core value of DogStar is the balance between self- reliant creation and service for the community.

I use my persona to present the iconography of DogStar in the context of awareness-based performance art: DoYou. I share the creation process of DogStar to evoke DoYou in others. DoYou is a process of becoming fully self-realized and actualizing self-identity. It is my artistic mantra to shift power from external conformity to internal realization.

It is my artistic mantra to shift power from external conformity to internal realization.

As Yozmit’s conduit, I create songs, costumes, public performances, and workshops—using voice, dance, and costumery as a theatrical/shamanic trinity to tell stories of the goddess archetype, who is my higher channel. I use my male form to embody both The Sacred Feminine and The Sacred Masculine.

"This is more than a personal dream. It’s a movement to resource queer, BIPOC, and visionary artists. To make art that heals. To turn performance into prayer."

Why This Work Matters

We are living in a time of fear-based division and deep imbalance. But instead of resisting the darkness, we’re dancing with it — Face to Face, weaving shadow and light into divine union. This isn’t just a show. It’s a ceremony. A rebirth. A celebration of what it means to be fully human in 2025: whole, alive, and free.
