Kanye's DONDA

The outcome of the live-stream? Another live performance of DONDA. A bed, scattered props, and weights stood in the stadium's center, but all the attention was on the vast crowds that encircled West's stage. Each member of the pack wore black and took part in the presentation.

In the same style as Arca or FKA Twigs, the Chicago rapper has become a master of performance. In his short-lived tour for The Life of Pablo, he stood on a beaming, floating stage above a crowd of frenzying moshers. When he underwent his Yeezus era, he sported an adorned mask that helped elevate his stage presence.

Each track mirrored the sonic style of Ye, his beloved album, released in 2018. He's slipped into a more mature perspective as he raps about the ways he conceptualizes community. The production of DONDA stands as his visible healing process and captures the way he uses art to pay tribute to his late mother, Dr. Donda West.
