For the 1017 ALYX 9SM A/W ’19 show in Paris, Matthew Williams teamed up with Nike on a collection that stripped us down to the origin of raw human creation and the “extreme present” with all-black silhouettes and roll-dyed camouflage prints, designed in partnership with Italian fabric house, Majocchi.

Williams reinterpretted closet staples and Nike basics with highly-experimental technology, presenting a collection that served as a reference point between "the familiar and the revolutionary." Models rocked ALYX's now-signature nylon buckle looks and what was probably the collection’s most advanced piece, sonically-welded transparent jackets, molded from sound waves and vibrations in fabric form.

All in all, the collection felt something like a Back to the Future meets New York City street culture fever dream, with a little I, Robot thrown in for good luck.

As for Williams, designing this collection was all about reimagining a fresh, new vocabulary to express daily life, and to show off humanity's limitless imagination. And ith audience members like office Issue 09 cover star Dev Hynes sitting front row, the show truly was a dedication to the new wave of innovators and artists not scared of testing how far they can take technology.

Balancing glamour with rebellion, Carson Lovett fuses history, bohemia, and street culture to create whimsical yet ironically eclectic designs. After a standout debut last July—worn by stars like Charli XCX and Jennie Kim—Lovett has continued to keep us on the edge of our seats. His new AW ‘25 collection, L.A Winter, under his label LOVETT was inspired by the “thrift-centric” essence of all-American fashion, and released earlier this week. Echoing L.A. Winter’s mantra —“A culture preserved is no culture at all”— the collection plays with dissonance, juxtaposing varsity jackets reimagined as skirts and dresses, bandage dresses adorned with playful bows, and sports stripes running from hip to floor. Monogrammed foil clashes with daisy embroideries, peace signs, and irreverent slogans like “BAE,” “LIVE LAUGH LOVETT,” and “I’M NOT GAY, I’M FRENCH.” With its ironic embrace of glamour and out-of-place beauty, LOVETT’s AW ‘25 collection is designed for the city girl who lives multiple lives.
