The Future of Functionality
This was the designer's debut collection since having announced the merge of menswear and womenswear— and while many designers this year have been building on that same sentiment— what we saw from Anderson was one of the best. And why? Anderson's effort was entirely anticlimactic. Although it may seem an oxymoron, there was something brilliant about the banal quality of his gender-neutral garments. He gave us something that didn't scream sociopolitics, or scream "activism"— athough felt like fully like fashion that could fall anywhere on the spectrum of femininity versus masculinity. So, as we forge ahead with fashion season, let's not forget about J.W. Anderson— this is future of fashion. This is true functionality.
