Affirmations x ANGELS
In Castillo’s work, religion is not limited to the church, but can appear to us in moments of intuition, resonant feelings, the poetry of prayer and affirmation, and even frequencies the human eye fails to detect. The book at large takes us through the experience of spiritual expansion. As such, ANGELS is broken up into three movements: Emotion, Faith, and Illumination. These sections each define one aspect of the the journey toward discovering a God within the self. The first part, Emotion, is all about stripping our feelings down to their most honest forms. In it, we experience a range of emotions like pain, fear, loneliness, loss, shame, grief, etc. sitting in our ugliest moments is sometimes the most vital step in becoming. The second part, Faith, is all about the quiet emergence of a metaphysical space. Connecting with other plains through subtle signs and the tenderness of humanity presented with the divine. The last part, Illumination, is a representation of when the body fully turns into a vessel of love and light. When the divine world and the physical world meet.
Castillo believes in learning from the experience of transforming, and transmuting this into the ability to further create. The book is a representation of the ways in which survival and illusion can interplay, one seeping into the narrative of the other. It declares that faith is discovered, created, chosen, and held onto. It is an ongoing process built on input and output.
