The sacai and Ghetto Gastro collaboration first began with their pop-up "sacai GASTRO" at Tokyo Burnside, an experimental dining venue, last December. While the uniform was initially created for the pop-up staff, the partnership between these two influential forces in fashion and culinary arts proved too dynamic to simply remain within restaurant kitchens.
Ghetto Gastro emphasizes the profound cultural significance of their bandana design, which draws inspiration from Bronx gangs in the ‘70s as well as blue-collar laborers. As advocates of Black power within the kitchen, they assert that it is natural for them to incorporate the black paisley pattern.
