“Portrait of” Levon Hawke by Hedi Slimane

For Celine Homme’s ongoing “Portrait of an Actor” series, Creative Director Hedi Slimane tapped Levon Hawke to pose as his latest muse. A project aimed to merge elements of performance and fashion, it captures portraits of rock icons, actors, and creatives alike who are making strides in their respective industry. Slimane’s devotion to emulating the rock and roll aesthetic that permeates across his body of work continues in this project, which aims to immortalize the essence of stars who embody Celine's effortless allure.

Among the past subjects of Celine's 'Portrait' series are Bob Dylan, Julian Casablancas, Debbie Harry, and Courtney Love, enigmatic rock and roll icons who have shaken the scene in one way or another. Son of Uma Thurman and Ethan Hawke, the 21 year old actor and musician is set to debut in the film Pussy Island, an upcoming American thriller directed by Zoë Kravitz. Dressed in Celine essentials – faded denim jeans, a crisp white tank, and a black leather belt – while strumming his guitar on a Manhattan rooftop, Hawke emulates the fashion house’s commitment to creative expression.

Between the Earth and Sky

Taking new design approaches as well, this collection introduces silhouettes with significantly elevated soles to complement the unique bubble outsole that has become a staple of the brand. Hard knitted boots, puffed ballet shoes, elevated sole heels and quilted bags paired with bizarrely patterned outfits contrast the stark, dull background of the remote North Atlantic islands. With shoes that make you feel like you’re walking on clouds, grounds continues its mission of fostering an ongoing conversation about humanity’s connection to the earth.

The collection will debut in early September 2023, available at select U.S. retailers and online on the Japanese imprint’s website. Prices will range from approximately $350 to $1000 USD.

May There Be Appetite

Berlin-based photographer Nicolas Cuenca and stylist Hakan Solak collaborated on an editorial inspired by a phrase Hakan's mother used to say to his father: "You can get your appetite outside, but dinner is always at home." The resulting imagery explores the contrast between the allure of the outside world and the comfort and familiarity of home.
