Eames House is Back

After five months behind closed doors, the Eames House, a Pacific Palisades landmark, once again welcomes visitors into its quiet hillside perch. The building remains one of the purest distillations of mid-century industrial architecture: a steel-frame box softened by light, foliage, and the couple’s obsessive attention to how life unfolds inside a space.

The closure came after wildfire-related smoke damage forced the team to seal off the site. Restoration efforts focused on preserving the original materials. The reopening arrives alongside the launch of the Charles & Ray Eames Foundation, a nonprofit committed to protecting the house and expanding the architects’ legacy. The foundation aims to continue the Eames’ lifelong project: exploring the future of design while working in harmony with the environment.
