Emmett Kai's "Heaven in Heat"
The album starts us off drifting through Emmett’s soft melodies in “Hoolywood,” setting the tone for the EP. The track is a pulsing beat with soaring vocals that capture the dizzying rush of meeting a beautiful stranger creekside in medieval times. "Based on Holly Meat Wagon" takes us on a horseback journey, bouncing between a knight’s perspective and a soaring eagle. Then "Far and Wide" touches on getting away from life and tuning out the complexity of our responsibilities, while "Monsters at the Roxy" is almost a 4-on-the-floor dance track with Zappa-like vocals. He is also accompanied by his best friend and guitar player, Kevin Mclachlan, who plays saxophone on "Far And Wide."
