Fantasy, Florida, and the Flirty '60s: Anna Sui’s Warhol-Inspired SS25 Collection

As she walked me through her process — from her vision board filled with Warhol’s drawings, color swatches and specific fabrics, to the garments hanging in her showroom — Sui referenced Bardot as her foremost muse, evident in romantic slip dresses, gingham rompers, and capris like those the French actress and style icon famously wore. Sui styled these feminine silhouettes with boxier, menswear-inspired pieces like cabana jackets and Amalfi sweaters, creating looks that mirror the way people mix and layer their clothing today.

Nostalgic touches ran throughout the collection, most notably in the two prom dresses that channeled the spirit of the 1960s, adding to the dreamy, retro feel that defined the entire selection. Continuing her tradition of sourcing vintage pieces, Sui added vintage straw bags and hats as accessories. Bright pastels and neons harmonized, with accents like lemon rosebuds, delicate floral corsages, and playful accessories completing the looks. Sourcing many of these materials, however, wasn’t easy. Sui explained that several of the manufacturers responsible for producing the vibrant fabrics and vintage colors she envisioned no longer exist, amplifying the sense of nostalgia that surrounds the collection despite modern limitations.
