The Lizzie Launch: An Experience
To commemorate the collaboration, Lizzie hosted an all-evening event at Goya Studios in LA full of skating, live music, food, a greenhouse, and more. With a bottomless bowl, skaters from all around the world were brought to skate in their new shoes and test them out for themself. And in true Lizzie fashion, the make-shift greenhouse with planted shoes in dirt and soil provided free seeds to continue the growth of the world Lizzie is trying to live in.
Check out the interview with the skater below.
When you first started skating what was your priority in terms of shaping community?
When I first started skating, my only priority was not having to go to the library or babysit my little brother.
Looking back as a young skater girl getting their footing, why was it important to team up with Vans?
I didn’t really think about it then, they were just the shoes I liked.
Looking back now and after joining the team officially, it was the sense of community and love and passion for skateboarding that has kept me connected to the brand all these years.
Who was the first person you told when you got the news about the collab?
My husband Axel Cruysberghs
What was the first thing on your mind when it came to drafting up the ‘Lizzie Experience’?
I wanted something in an event that felt like an extension of Dana Tripps commercials and ads she shot for the shoot. I wanted people to be able to enter that world in real life.
The shoe itself is super comfortable and also sleek in style, as a skater what were some things you were taking into account when designing a shoe?
In addition to the sustainable aspects of the shoe, I wanted something that was going to be durable and functional for people, men and women, with a slimmer foot.
Can you describe the Lizzie experience in a sentence?
