McQueen’s The Manta Bag Campaign Is Underwater and Otherworldly

The Manta Bag assumes the general silhouette of the manta ray, carrying with it the natural mystique of the almost sculptural deep-sea animals. The bag and the campaign, therefore, incite feelings of exploration and whimsy. The bag is depicted as an accessory for a character who is imaginative in their way of moving through the world. 

 

Made of gunmetal leather, the bag comes in three colorways: black, red, and metallic, adorned with pearl, crystal, and chandelier chain charms. The Manta bag is powerfully inspired by the energy of McQueen’s archival piece, the De Manta, from the Spring Summer 2010 Plato’s Atlantis Collection. It’s a creative choice the brand has referred to as an “innovation stirred by the anatomy of the natural world.” The texture of time, therefore, creates the throughline for a piece so anchored in the natural happenstances of the world.
