Reese Cooper Takes “Two Steps Forward”

Los Angeles-based designer Reese Cooper has brought forth a unique vision in his elevated interpretation of wardrobe staples with his Autumn/Winter 2022 collection, titled "Two Steps Forward." Cooper unveiled this season’s designs through a 12-hour Instagram live lookbook, a new format for the designer, who had initially planned to present during Paris Fashion Week. Despite the change of plans, the presentation fittingly represented what Cooper captures so well in his collections, a sense of effortless refinement that goes beyond the traditional molds for even the most ordinary-seeming pieces.

While a birds-eye view of the collection imposes a feeling of simple and curated designs, fine-tuned details reveal a different truth. Cooper’s design character shines through with little discoveries like screen-printed plaid and herringbone patterns drawn by himself or matching trouser-jacket pairings crafted from technical ripstop fabrics. The collections notes explain that “Everything is just a little bit different than it seems. Traditional menswear is more mature and effortlessly unisex.” Cooper captures these subtleties well and appeals to a wearer with an appreciation for methodical details.

UGG’s Latest Campaign Has Claws, Literally

Born out of collaboration between UGG and Brooklyn-based designer Gabe Gordon, the short film FROSTBITE was presented for their Fall/Winter 2026 campaign. The film explores the balance between discipline and freedom, where teenage restlessness and desire erode. It follows a group of ice skaters as they abandon the familiar confines of the rink for a hot August night in Upstate New York. The film shifts from a melancholic dreamscape to an eerie nightmare as the dancers grow claws and fur, becoming monsters of the night.

FROSTBITE premiered on October 28 at Cinema Village in New York. The evening also featured exclusive embroidered UGG® Trey Rib Knit Crew Socks and enamel pins, followed by a showing of the 2005 horror film House of Wax, an appropriately strange double feature. With creative direction by Gordon, styling by America Korban, and music by Vickie Cherie, the project feels closer to an atmospheric coming-of-age film than a conventional fashion campaign. FROSTBITE completely subverted expectations. A total nostalgia trip, violently interrupted by a lycanthropic twist.
