ghostwrite Opens Archival “Museum” Exhibit at Staple 21 Mercer

On display are both 100% (3-inch) and 1000% (27-inch) ghosts, including a gold Caitlin Clark figure and several large-scale player ghosts on loan from private collectors. Also included are a number of one-of-one tributes created for artists, collaborators, and friends of ghostwrite - among them Jackson Wang, Mo Amer, and Mike Amiri. Reflecting on the beginning of ghostwrite, Luber says that “when we first started the brand in 2022, we were just making ghosts as gifts for our friends - tributes to the people and brands that inspire us. Sometimes we got permission, and sometimes we didn’t, but all those gifts and samples and prototypes - they’re a part of ghostwrite’s history. We don’t want to give them all away, but the Feastables and Eminem ghosts are not to be missed. Also, we encourage Gen Z attendees to Google ‘Tyrone Biggums’ before their visit.”
The museum is housed at Staple 21 Mercer, the first permanent retail location from designer Jeff Staple. Since opening earlier this year, the store has served as a cultural hub for events, exhibits, and emerging brands - like ghostwrite. Located at one of the most historically significant addresses in sneaker history, Staple 21 Mercer adds another layer of resonance to ghostwrite’s growing identity as cultural archive in figurine form. Jeff Staple says that as soon as the space was aquired "immediately, we started discussing ways to incorporate ghostwrite. Collectible toys have always been deeply connected to the culture of sneakers and streetwear, but ghostwrite is the first new brand to come along and push things forward in a very long time. That's why I'm excited to host the ghostwrite museum and to be the first retail store to carry ghosts... and to be the first retail store to have their own ghost (stay tuned!)."
While most of the pieces on view are not for sale, a limited number of ghosts from the archive will be available for in-store purchase. In addition, 20 NBA-licensed “Game Ball” ghosts - 27” figures designed to be pebbled like a basketball - will be available for $5000 each. ghostwrite museum will run through October 12 2025. Both the exhibit and reception are open to the public - no tickets required.
