Social-Work, Meditations on a Rose

This fashion season felt suspended, for many, torn from its roots in the absence of New York Fashion Week 2020. In their S/S 2022 digital showcase, Social-Work celebrated the surrealism, romanticism, and freedom of a moment torn from its time. The Italian-born, Shanghai-raised, New-York-based designer, Chenghui Zhang's latest collection communicates across cultures, and times to deliver a succinct, and unqiue style. Drawing on the 2003 French Film "The Dreamers," which draws on Gilber Aldair’s 1988 novel "The Holy Innocents," which draws on the Zeitgeist of 1960s France, Social-Work’s collection creates connections across time, suspended in an instant.

Communicated through a digital platform, with each look donned by a single model, the show itself became a symbol of the unspoken connections which saturate moments of supposed isolation.

This collection serves as a reminder that even within the minimalist movement where less is more, there is always more than meets the eye. Sourcing from the 60s Zeitgeist of freedom, and individuality the S/S 2022 collection constructed a modern fantasy, with a twist of surrealism. The color palette, aesthetic, and iconography derives from Salvador Dali’s "Meditative Rose," making this collection worthy of a spot above the mantel, if not in your closet. The show’s pale hues and near-sepia tones juxtapose the collection’s rich and opaque shades of red, blue, and neutrals to create a sense of illusion. Social-Work's Meditative Rose extends an uncanny invitation to stop and smell the roses, if only to find out whether they’re roses at all.

Challenging the boundaries between simplicity and complexity, the new collection features lightweight fabrics intertwined with structured silhouettes and unexpected touches of color that blur the line between the real and the imaginary. Where the Light Finds Us invites us to inhabit this liminal space: a poetic expression of connection and transformation.

Rihanna’s FENTY x PUMA collaboration takes center stage with the launch of the highly anticipated Avanti LS sneaker. To mark the debut of this limited-edition silhouette, PUMA invited guests to an unforgettable culinary experience in the kitchen at WSA, blending creativity and playfulness in true FENTY fashion.

Hosted by the visionary Ghetto Gastro team and designed by renowned artist Gab Bois, the event featured a menu inspired by the sleek design and striking blue colorway of the Avanti LS. Guests indulged in an innovative array of dishes, including Bluefin Tuna, Wavy Waffles, Bajan Cutterz, Caviar Coupes, Shrooms and Goons, Blueberry Haze Bon Bons, and more.
