Andreas Kronthaler for Vivienne Westwood SS22 stood its ground while still showcasing legendary styles the brand is known and loved for. Going against the status quo is nothing unusual for Westwood, and Kronthaler’s eponymous line lived up to expectations. As the two leaned in towards striking hues and quirky silhouettes such as backless shorts and massive cross-body bell accessories, Kronthaler never lost sight of the central essence of the brand. The collection showcased still provided Westwood's sexy silhouette and added on to the many jackets and blouses that revelead corseted waist, paired with llatex dresses with precisely placed peepholes, and mini dresses with a built-in bust.

Sentimentalism was at the heart of this collection, seen with the homages towards past Westwood collections and with items such as the headdress made from Kronthaler’s childhood toy and baby blanket. In a grey-toned parking garage in the heart of Paris, the simple set was the perfect backdrop for this cheeky SS22 show. Sex and sexiness shown through the gray monochrome stage, a pink mini dress with a padded bust fit for Jessica rabbit and thigh-high boots that flared out at the hips creating the ultimate hourglass shape were given the spotlight they didn’t need much help taking.

This post-pandemic collection paved the way for a new era, memorializing a new beginning with appreciative nods towards the past. Boisterously layered a-line form-fitting gowns were followed up with pieces that looked as if Scarlett O'Hara had taken the curtain rod with the curtain. Mini dress length tattered t-shirts with skull graphics reminiscent of the brand's formative punk years were paired with flamboyant brightly colored shorts. Nothing was out of bounds for Kronthaler with this collection. Men and women walked down the runway in heels and latex, one of the many playful nudges this collection gave to the seriousness felt during the first Paris fashion week post-pandemic.

Vans x Sterling Ruby Return with New Collection

Vans and artist Sterling Ruby are teaming up again for a bold second collection through OTW by Vans, launching on December 5, 2024. The seven-piece lineup includes footwear and apparel inspired by Ruby’s art, featuring deep green and gold tones, rotting jack-o-lantern graphics, and monster claw motifs.

The collection includes four shoe designs, such as the Old Skool 36 and Sk8-Hi 38, crafted with premium materials like goatskin and sustainable cotton. It also introduces apparel with striking graphics and a bold slogan: “ABSOLUTE CONTEMPT FOR TOTAL SERENITY.”
