The Final Drop: Failure Fashion

But thankfully, by way of the final drop of season three from the acclaimed collaboration between adidas Originals Alexander Wang, we can remind you of the unversal truth: dig through your antique attire, we will attest to the fact that you will find something surprising. Or you can just cop the collection on June 23rd.

Inspired by a fictional unlabeled box found in the adidas archives, full of forgotten and flawed samples, this drop celebrates imperfections in the clothing production process. With pixelated graphics, uneven prints, perma-wrinkled fabrics, rejection now perfection.

Wang uses these new textures and fabrics to reimagine the fan-favorite, tried and true Adidas staples as well as introduce new pieces like crop tops, skirts, and dresses. The sixteen piece collection includes items like AW windbreakers, tank dresses, the Turnout Trainer, in black, blue, and bold orange colorways. Each piece is perma-wrinkled, creating a discarded effect that’s impossible to replicate— no two pieces are alike.

For the campaign, Wang and Adidas once again teamed up with Brianna Capozzi, taking models Lexi Boling and Cat McNeil to an industrial laundromat that might as well be a weird dystopian amusement park. Boling and McNeil surf on ironing boards, dive into piles of clothing, and pose on top of countertops and windows— encapsulating Wang’s irreverent approach to the icons of adidas.

Pound the Pavement with P.O.D. Systems

This week, adidas lead us all the way to London, for the unveiling of their latest lifestyle runner— a combination of their classic BOOST heel technology taken to new heights, by way of an all-new adaptation, titled, P.O.D. (Point of Deflection).

Having maintained star status when it comes to “sole technology” ever since the brand’s initial introduction of the BOOST sole, now the brand has brought back an archival BOOST— although this time, it has been powered by the P.O.D. System.

The best of BOOST, AKA P.O.D. System is a bridge-like structure that has been integrated into the shoe’s sole. It uses intensive, three-dimensional cushioning technology to provide “shock absorption” protecting the heels and offering strengthened overall stability for the foot.

Media attendees invited to the launch met at the adidas Originals flagship in Shoreditch where we heard from Morgan Boeri (Vice President of Footwear) and Remy Eyraud (Design Director, adidas Originals) about the creative approach and design process, both Morgan, and Remy expressing that best part of creating this new innovation of P.O.D. was watching so many different ideas come together into a tangible product reflective of all those ideas.

In a similar experience to the designers at adidas, the attendees were treated to a makers-lab experience where we were able to select material from an array of adidas shoe components, including the BOOST sole, bridge, and forefoot that make up the P.O.D. System, in order to make our own shoe. During the makerslab, you could really see what Morgan and Remy were speaking to in their presentation about their process in creating the current P.O.D. System. Here we were, a room full of creative individuals with knowledge of what we wanted to see in a shoe, combining that with the proper instruments and a collaborative mindset to create something special.

Gosha x Adidas

After three seasons of collaborations between Rubchinskiy and Adidas, this collection seems to be a bit more personal— paying homage to Rubchinskiy's homeland, Russia. The bi-color designs are simple and recognizibly his own. While the collection is the familiar soccor inspired sportwear Gosha is known for, including the designers's signature Cyrillic designs with blue accents, it doesn't feel tired or repetitive.

Encompassing over a dozen wearable designs, the collab includes windbreakers, jerseys, socks and pants that come in red, white, blue and black – traditional Russian colors that truely illuminate a bit of his own patriotism. Considering that Russia will be hosting the World Cup for the first time this year, the celebratory collaboration is more than well deserved. Each of the jerseys represent one of the 11 cities hosting this year's World Cup events and numbered in a 4-5-1 soccor formation, reimagining Russia as a soccer field.

With a tournament ready regulation ball as part of the collection, Rubchinksy is ready to deck his team out. If you're interested in being a part of the team, you better act fast. Like most things Rubchinskiy touches, this collection is sure to sell out in an instant.
