Crafts for the Mind: ASICS x Florence Tétier

Juxtaposing sharp, glassy, sculptural flower-like ornaments with the retro and sporty sneaker, the capsule collection offers something hyper-modern that falls perfectly in the middle of the ven diagram bringing high and low fashion together with fine art — arguably the most stylish spot to be in.

Tétier has a resume that's nothing to scoff at — holding titles of co-founder and creative director of Novembre magazine and creative director at Jean Paul Gaultier — but five years ago, felt inspired to pursue an off-grid project, something that would fufill her outside of the increasily digital aspects of the fashion industry.

That was when she began her namesake brand Tétier Bijoux, designing and hand-crafting jewelry out of repurposed objects and materials, which she has maintained on a small scale as to continue working on each piece herself — though the roster of brands she has worked with as a jewelry designer since has grown, featuring the likes of Charlotte Knowles, Gucci Vault, Dilara Findikohlu and SSENSE.

Of the collaboration, the designer tells office, "I was thrilled to work and test new applications of my jewerelies on an existing object, I always look to expand my scope of work. I enjoyed working by myself, that was the first time in a long time. It was motivating to do this project for an association that is linked to my daughter and to help develop a school that can build a new educational system."

The shoes, in three colorways, will be released in 30 pairs each with unique jewel additions through an auction on drouot.com on Wednesday, December 14th for one day. They will be shipped exclusively by Jogging Maseille.

All proceeds from the crafted pairs will be donated to Ecole Democatique de Paris (EDP), a Parisian collective selected by Tétier, where everyone regardless of age is considered fully soverign over their existance and able to learn independently.
