Since taking over Celine, Hedi Slimane has made a few prominent changes. First, he got rid of the brand's é, then he decided to introduce menswear; but perhaps, most visibly, he's changed the direction of the brand completely, taking it from Phoebe Philo's minimalist and flowing silhouettes to the signaure mix of rock 'n' roll, glam and bohemia that Hedi has perfected.

Last season, he showed a decidedly Hedi Slimane collection—all skinny suits and Bobby Gillespie. But what is the designer if not a provocateur? For his F/W '19 collection, Slimane went back to the basics—not exactly his basics, of leather jackets and skintight tailoring, but to the beginning of Celine... when it was still Céline.

Inspired by the 1970s, the bourgeousie, and of course, French culture, the collection paired plaid, shearling, faux fur and denim in a very un-Slimane like fashion that was still undoubtedly Hedi Slimane.

That's because, what he does best, is follow his insticts. As Anthony Vaccarello seems to have cornered the market on leather, mini-dresses and '80s exaggerated shoulders in Slimane's wake at Saint Laurent, the designer has had to take a whole new direction: one of skirts that are eight inches longer and heels that are four inches shorter; of a palette that includes colors other than black and gold; of bookishness, but in a way that's always cool. After all, he's still Hedi Slimane.

FENTY x PUMA Launches the Avanti LS with Ghetto Gastro

Rihanna’s FENTY x PUMA collaboration takes center stage with the launch of the highly anticipated Avanti LS sneaker. To mark the debut of this limited-edition silhouette, PUMA invited guests to an unforgettable culinary experience in the kitchen at WSA, blending creativity and playfulness in true FENTY fashion.

Hosted by the visionary Ghetto Gastro team and designed by renowned artist Gab Bois, the event featured a menu inspired by the sleek design and striking blue colorway of the Avanti LS. Guests indulged in an innovative array of dishes, including Bluefin Tuna, Wavy Waffles, Bajan Cutterz, Caviar Coupes, Shrooms and Goons, Blueberry Haze Bon Bons, and more.
