FANG FW 26
For the Fall-Winter 2026 season, Fang Guo took inspiration from Christian Stemmler’s Anfang/Beginning: Berlin 1994-99, a photo series in which Stemmler sought to capture the authenticity of party culture and youth culture during the throes of war. The fashion of Stemmler’s photography is a most honest subversion of style by virtue of being reconfigured. The clothing was utilitarian and expressive. From casual afterparties to street photography, the project was a visual dialogue of social climate, just as much as FANG’s most recent collection is.
FANG’s lens is tried and true, an artistic endeavor that is corporeal, both contemporary and rooted in the memory of time. It sees this through with the use of detail and industrial materials. The designs see lots of leather, checkerboard prints in black, purple, and blue, stripes that lengthen the pieces, and silhouette-heavy tops paired with sheer bottoms. The balance created through these elements work toward a larger narrative of yin and yang, masculine and feminine, refuge and home. The sophomore show is a celebration of community at large and a collective movement through time.
