Helmut Lang Seen By: Carrie Mae Weems
This next installment of the brand’s Artist Series drops today, and includes three of Weems’ most poignant portraits. Taken between 1989 and 1990, Weems’ photographs highlight her womanhood (and, more specifically, her Black womanhood), a choice that shook the industry table by offering sorely needed representation.
Guggenheim retrospective recipient and all-around icon, Carrie Mae Weems’ posters, T-Shirts, and long-sleeved shirts are available now at Helmut Lang stores and online.
Fifteen percent of all proceeds will go to the charity of Weems’ choice: Social Studies 101, Inc.
