Koleva found inner peace through music at a very young age. After leaving her home in Bulgaria with her father when she was young, she discovered that no matter where they were, no matter how far or close to home she felt, music was always present to get her through any hardships. Her rebellious personality and strong yet incredibly silky voice have set her apart from other artists in her genre, solidifying her as a staple in the Bulgarian music scene. Known for drawing inspiration from R&B, indie-pop, and soul music, Koleva isn’t afraid to explore her sound. This experimental and explorative mindset has helped to set her apart from other artists of her genre.
Koleva moved to the United States in the Fall of 2019. Plans to release her forthcoming album were all but halted when the pandemic hit America. Rather than fall back into the shadows, Koleva did what she knew best. She channeled the resilience she had known her whole life and focused on helping where she could. During this time, she worked tirelessly to raise awareness for causes close to her heart, such as support networks for those suffering from mental illness, LGBTQ+ rights, and support for victims of domestic violence, to name a few.
Koleva is nothing short of a powerhouse. From creating music to standing up for social causes, she isn’t going to stop taking over any time soon.

To have a moment like this allows us to see a bright future ahead, glowing like the sun after daylight savings ends.
Devonté Hynes performs pieces by Julius Eastman that have already been performed on the Auditorium stage in the fall of 2021, under the artistic direction of Mathieu Kleyebe Abonnenc and Jean-Christophe Marti. With this renewed gesture, he amplifies this highlighting of the abundant musical creation of the 1970s in New York. This program that celebrates Eastman— brought about from Hynes because of the new release: Gay Guerilla: L'Histoire de Julius Eastman (Editions 1989, 2022) was the first book dedicated to Eastman that includes his foreword.

“‘Heaven is Here’ was the first song I wrote in lockdown after an extended period of not being able to get to the studio,” says Florence Welch. “I wanted to make something monstrous. And this clamour of joy, fury and grief was the first thing that came out. With dance studios also shut it was my dream to one day create choreography with it. So it’s one of the first pieces of music I have made specifically with contemporary dance in mind.”
“Dance Fever” is set to release on May 13 and all three singles are available to stream now. Check out the music video for “Heaven is Here” below.
