What is your ideal office?

I like a quiet space where I can do research and read books. It's almost like a fashion library. What words make your heart beat faster? Art. When something stylistic turns into a work of art. It’s so thrilling to see someone in your work. Art being imitated in life – it’s the most exciting thing.

What was the last thing you saved on Instagram?

A location in Marrakech – new inspo, the colors, it’s gorgeous.

When was the last time you were truly scared?

The PUMA FUTROGRADE fashion show! It was more of an anticipatory feeling, but it was a big moment and I wanted it to be impactful on so many levels. Change is always scary, so taking on this role, and having this as somewhat of a culmination moment, was huge.

Do you have any rituals?

Of course! I’m big on bath time. I love to wind down to retro music and wake up to a gospel song. I practice 15 minutes of meditation each morning, too. I prep my day in my head and gather my thoughts – I know what I want to be, and what I want to convey, so by the time I hit my closet, I'm sure of myself.

If you could only see the world in two colors, which would you choose and why?

Burgundy and Blue. These are the main colors in my first co-branded collab with PUMA. They have just the right amount of richness and depth.

Can you describe your first kiss?

Nunda, New York on a farm!

What song never fails to make you dance?

If you know me you know I’m always dancing! A few that I keep in my shuffle are: anything by Michael Jackson, “Breathe and Stop,” by Q-Tip, “Vibrant Thing,” by Q-Tip, “Juicy,” by Notorious B.I.G.

Who was your celebrity crush as a teenager?

Leroy from Fame! Gene Anthony Ray was a theater kid like me, and he was just fabulous.

How do you win in a fight?

I use my words. Words are very powerful, and to be able to articulate yourself is a true skill.

What is the most meaningful item in your wardrobe?

I have a scrunchie with a big silk flower that my mom used to always wear and I held on to it. I put it in my pocket when I need to feel close to her, it’s special to me.

Can you describe the last dream you had?

I dream about my work often, I get ideas even in my sleep. This last time, I dreamt of being on a billboard! It’s a real goal of mine.

What is an idea of yours that failed?

I recently saw and reposted a quote on Instagram that really resonated with me: “Talking about our problems is our greatest addiction. Break the habit. Talk about your joys.” Unfortunately, it was anonymous, but it’s great!

If you were a shoe, which would you be and why?

I’d be a sneaker. They’re forever young, agile, and fun!
