Surfing the Dark Web: Mowalola AW23
As the show progresses, a clique of hackers and underground vigilantes arrive to combat corporate law and order. Here, these hackers modeled sporty looks such as leather bombers, leather skirts, baggy pants, graffiti graphics and signature Mowalola emblems. Along come the survivalists who are constantly enveloped in dystopian technology; models in sporty bolero and booty-shorts sets, ponkyskin sets, roughed-up Timberland boots and even more of the Yankees logo.
Creating a narrative of each model from head to toe, agents of faceless corporate entities are covered in bug-like sunglasses, dark hooded dresses, mock Bluetooth headsets, groin cut-out pants and bound arms to represent confinement to capitalism, technology and fetishes. Lit-up makeup can be seen embedded into models' skin to blur the lines between human and machine and to show that the merging between the two may be closer than we think.
