What is your ideal office?
A recording studio with a room specifically for dancing connected to it, almost like where a live recording room would normally be. So I could feel out the movement of the music I’m making completely and unrestricted, blasting on the speakers.
When was the last time someone put a love spell on you?
I went to Austin this weekend for Ian’s (Kevin Abstract’s) joint Q&A and showing of the movie Our Hero, Balthazar. It was so good. At the after-party, this lady came up to me and pulled a burger out of her purse.
What spell do you wish you could cast?
I don’t think I could cast any better spell than writing a song.
What’s the kookiest thing you’ve seen in Los Angeles?
People paying $100 to get into a club.
What song isn’t a love song but should be?
“Early Blue” by F.J. McMahon. It’s about not wanting to face the world but you should anyway. But in my head, this early blue he speaks of appears as a person he’s running from.
What do people misunderstand about you?
People misunderstand how deeply I feel things. I’m only just a little bit crazy.
Do you believe in platonic soulmates?
Yeah, I think some people are sent to hold your heart, not your hand.
What magical creature would you be?
Probably whatever Gollum from Lord of the Rings is because I just would love to be a weird little thing.
Do you have a favorite TV show theme song?
I love listening to the Twin Peaks theme song. There’s this lady, Julee Cruise, whose song contributed to the instrumentals of this theme song, and I turn that album on almost every late-night drive that takes me more than an hour.
What’s the most Texan thing about you?
I like things loud, honest, and a little excessive. That’s Texas enough for me.
What is the doll version of you wearing?
Tiny black sunglasses at night, a shirt half unbuttoned, leather boots, tangled hair, and a leather jacket that smells like perfume.
Daytime or nighttime— when are you most alive?
Nighttime for sure. I’ve always loved doing everything when it’s dark outside; it feels warmer.
Who was your very first crush?
Definitely my first girlfriend from kindergarten. I still remember her very well. Her name was Viviana. I often wonder how she’s doing.
What three laws would you make in “Love Spells Land”?
1. You have to say what you feel.
2. Dancing is mandatory after midnight.
3. Love is the law and fear is the prison.
What’s your most useless talent?
Remembering people I’ll never meet again.
Do you know your MBTI personality?
Campaigner; ENFP-A.
