UGG Kind of Love
Wondering how Mom & Pop are spending this lover’s day? Read UGG's interview below.
Describe a day in the life of Marz Lovejoy and Simon Rasmussen.
Marz—Our days change, but the fun and love are consistent.
Simon—Mars, our 8-month-old baby, wakes us up around 6am—sometimes a little earlier, sometimes later. I usually make breakfast for the family. We both start working or go on a shoot somewhere. Traveling is a big part of our lives and even though we do have routines, not many weeks look like each other.
When and how did the two of you meet?
Marz—Fall of 2015. I was on the runway; he was in attendance. He loved me at first sight. The rest is history...
Simon—I saw Marz opening the Hood By Air show in September of 2015, and later that week we met at an office magazine party. At the time, we only connected on IG. Six months later, Marz DJ’d another party and I asked her out.
Describe one another in three words.
Simon—Smart, beautiful, and old soul.
Marz—Three isn’t enough.
Describe one another’s style and what it says about them.
Marz—Simon’s style is Euro tailoring, fast New York tracksuits, a refined Dad shoe, but unafraid to put on a miniskirt or wig.
Simon—Marz is a very eclectic lady with a heavy influence from the late 90s/early 00s hip-hop/R&B style, but she can also pull off a very futuristic, avant-garde piece of clothing or a grandma dress she found in a vintage shop.
What do you two love most about one another?
Simon—She’s resilient and extremely smart.
Marz—The passion he has for things not only motivates me, but is also very sexy. Simon is perfect for me, truly. I can’t type it all out, but you can feel our love from miles away.
What’s your favorite way to spend time together?
Marz—Watch 90 Day Fiancé, traveling, lots of good food, and hanging with the kids!
Simon—Watching a show like 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days, going out for a romantic dinner, or traveling as a family.
How do you two find balance being both a couple and collaborators?
Marz—I think it works out so well because we’ve never really had to stop and think about “finding balance.” We just mesh and get it poppin’!
Simon—We are still looking for that balance, but we are also still growing individually and as a couple.
How do you two celebrate Valentine’s Day?
Simon—We would normally go out for a lavish dinner.
Marz—Haha, I bet Simon said, “a lavish dinner.” I think we’ve spent every Valentine’s Day cuddled up at home. We celebrate love 365/366 in a leap year.
Anything special planned this year?
Marz—We will donate a portion of our check from this job to organizations centered around the wellness of Black femmes. Not only is love in the air for Valentine’s Day, but it’s also Black History Month. The work doesn’t stop!
Simon—I think we might stay in and order some special takeout and light a candle or two.
What’s the perfect gift to give on Valentine’s Day, and what are each of you hoping for?
Marz—Perspective.
Simon—I want diamonds, haha. The perfect gift is a matter of timing and resources. We’ve given each other all kinds of gifts over the years and will continue to do so, but sometimes it’s fun to surprise, and other times its special to know you’re getting exactly what you asked for.
