Miomojo is Mindfully and Masterfully Made

Company founder Claudia Pievani does not just throw out empty words — but impressively, the brand’s claims are entirely backed up by their actions. Ten percent of their net profit is donated to international animal welfare organizations — such as Four Paws and Mercy for Animals — and they are currently in the process of receiving B-Corp certification for all of their sustainable advances.

Miomojo’s efforts may sound too good to be true but they really are changing the entire accessory game and the world all at once. When it comes to the materials used to make their artisan handbags, each one is more inventive than the last. They usually employ materials made from recycled fishing nets, plastic, glass, and coffee, organic fibers from plants such as bamboo and mint, and even some experimental lab-grown resources.

One of Miomojo’s highlight collections, “Prima Linea,” takes vegan leather to an extreme by creating wholly new materials from the natural resources we have been gifted, instead of using synthetic replacements rife with toxic chemicals. “Prima Linea” includes it-bags in festive colorways (just in time for the holidays), and they are all crafted from corn, apple skins, and cactus leather. Even their packaging is derived from organic corn starch and biodegrades with ease.

“The very concept of luxury consumption is evolving in favor of a new, more conscious luxury. Now, everyone aspires to products (luxury or not) that have an added value, that can transcend the present moment and connect to something deeper. True sustainability is respect. Respect for humanity, respect for the environment, and for animals. Aesthetics and ethics can and must coexist,” says Pievani.
