“The original inspiration was from Japanese house slippers called Uwabaki. Daniel has spent a lot of time traveling throughout Japan and has always been inspired by these trips,” revealed Arsham designer, Austin Snyder. “We have always loved the idea of having these at-home shoes/slippers that are intended for indoor use only. As we began the brainstorming process with Suicoke, their Zavo silhouette was perfectly suited for a luxury take on the classic house sandal — but compatible for both indoor and outdoor use.”
Retailing at $250 USD, the reworked ZAVO comes in a colorway of navy and beige and is available in US men’s sizes 8-13.
The collaboration is available from August 20 on Suicoke’s website and at select global retailers.
The campaign for the shoes depicts the overall broader message for what this collaboration stands for, and represents. With someone anonymously relaxing at a beach with their feet kicked up, it really shows just how versatile the shoe really is. On the other hand, the model wearing patchworked pants really solidifies this collaboration as one that is effortlessly cool, yet designed to stand out. Hopefully down the line, we can see more collaborations between these two staples because, after the release of this one, anything else that they come out with will be legendary.
