Givenchy’s Fall/Winter 21 collection utilizes a mixture of lavishness and austerity to accentuate the unrefined beauty of humanity. Creative Director Matthew M. Williams aims to invoke the emotional side of the business of luxury and fashion—for both maker and wearer.

‘Between Monuments and Music’ is a collection that transcends these troubled times by giving the wearer presence, and couples that feeling with a dash of audaciousness. The silhouettes for both men and women explore the tension between extravagance and discipline in order to bridge the gap between the classical, radical and practical.

The tension of extremes flows directly into the collection’s accessories, providing a sense of drama and armour. They work together to elevate the silhouettes—in both senses of the term — becoming at once alien and yet viable for the everyday.

“In many ways, this collection is about a constant tension between two worlds. It’s about finding personal meaning in difficult circumstances; it’s about sincerity in what we do rather than strategy. We wanted to bring a sense of lived reality alongside precision, elegance and extravagance in the clothing and looks. Ultimately, fashion for us is a way of being, feeling and connecting rather than a game to be played. It’s almost like monumentalising the everyday, filling it with emotion—like music you can wear,” says Williams.

Reimagining the bold sneaker and juxtaposing it against Brooklyn’s city scape, we play into warm furs and striking fishnets all set against the newly iconic bright blue of the shoe. Levi’s Goes UNDERCOVER

The collection includes nine pieces that draw inspiration from both brands’ rich histories, with reimagined jeans, T-shirts, and trucker jackets which reference UNDERCOVER’s “Exchange” program from its 1998 AW collection and feature embroidered zigzag patterns inspired by their 2003 archives. The Levi’s x UNDERCOVER collection will be available worldwide on January 18th, through Levi.com, the Levi’s App, select Levi’s stores, undercoverism.com, and select UNDERCOVER locations.
