Backstage at Anaïs Jourden
Bringing together a self-described "neo-bourgeois" aesthetic with a kind of sweet femininity, the collection was the opposite of effortless—but only in the best way. Usually, when you say something felt labored, it's meant as an insult, but designer Anaïs Mak really does labor over her work. That doesn't mean the collection looked overwrought—it was purposeful, considered; the type of pieces that girl who always looks absolutely perfect and put together would wear. It was aspirational, because now, I'm ready to throw out all of my hoodies and be her.
